    My daughter….my baby girl….my KooKoo

She’s almost as old as I was when she was born

    Was I really that young?

My life was so different than hers….

If all my good wishes for her were counted,

they would be a field of flowers, smiling up at the sky.

  • Look at that pose! She is gorgeous. We weren’t that young when we were her age. We were old, and we are getting younger.

I was in a meeting yesterday of the parents of the kids who went on that San Francisco retreat. We were sharing what was a growing “edge” for us, ourselves. The one mom who didn’t let her son go because she didn’t feel he was ready to (a) take public transportation, and (b) stay away from home for two nights without her, and (c) roam the streets of San Francisco for six hours, said that she realized how much differently she treated her son that her parents did them. Her brother traveled to Europe at age 15 with a few buddies his own age. Her son is going to be 15 his next birthday.

So what dates are you going to be in the Golden State? I want to put them in my calendar. Any chance you’d be able to stay here a night or two?

  • Was it ever possible to be able to bend like that?? That hurts just looking at it!

  • She is gorgeous.  And what you said is about the flowers is just beautiful, Shellielicious! xo

  • What a gorgeous photo!
She is beautiful on the inside and the outside… and one day she will realise that.

  • Oh to be that flexible again . She’s a lovely girl – I’m sure she will snap out of this phase soon and put her head on straight – hang in there

  • Its a beautiful photo.

  • She’s gorgeous… but aren’t you worry about her bendiness ?

    Best wishes
    Gaz

  • That pose fits her somehow.

  • Lovely, lovely picture.  Some day my daughter is going to be a beautiful dancer just like yours.  And she’s well on her way.  In her fourth year of dance class, four pairs of professional dance shoes each year, four costumes for each recital, $72/month for classes.  Ah, now I know where my life savings is going.  KB’s gonna be a dancer.  HeHe.  Beautiful blog today.

  • LOVE this blog and the picture is beautiful.

  • If I tried to do that, I think my back would snap in half.  Of course, I’m only 5’0″, so I doubt I could even reach my leg LOL.

  • I couldn’t do that when I 4. I wouldn’t even attempt it at the point ;)

  • No way could I do that her age or any other! LOL I was thinking the same thing about my son the other day. I was his age when I was pregnant with him. Time flies and yet takes so long.

Love the new look of the site, too!

  • I know you love your girl.  And hopefully she’ll get herself settled down soon.

    Mom’s don’t give up.

  • wow, i wish i could do that!!!

  • Beautiful pose and pic!  I don’t think I was ever that limber, even when I did yoga.

  • Wow…great pic…beautiful daughter.  Did she snap in half right after that picture?

  • very, very beautiful.

  • Thats very very introspective….do we wish different for them??

Its a lovely photo too…xoxo, QE

  • She is so adorable!

Yes Katie poo is up here actually a few more days than she would have liked!

Rita was here for a couple days too!  We have had a lot of fun in the snow and taking pics with my new camera.  Of course inbetween the work I have been doing.

My lips are broke out in blisters from the cold!  ugh!  Thank god I had medicine!

How are you?  You rarely call!

Katie found an adorable apartment 6 miles from me and 5 miles from work!  It is 2 bedroom 1 bath, 948 sqft, extended cable and internet included, raquetball, basketball, full fitness center, park for dogs, washer & dryer in unit and all the other perks!!  I am excited for her!  Built in 2005!

    Anyway, I love ya!

  • Lovely photo.  Your thoughts are the same as mine, except that my daughter has about 9 more years until she’s as old as I was when I had her and only 5 till she’s as old as I was when I had her brother. . .she is SO different from me, much more level headed and smarter about many things!  Of course she has had the advantage of MY wisdom to help her along!~K.K.

  • RYC:  Those aren’t crushes – those are obsessions HAHAHAHAHA.  No, didn’t take you seriously.  Hugs.

  • i definately think it is less stressful by myself, but i do miss the companionship of just having another adult to talk to!!

  • Breathtaking photograph, sweetie.
And yeah, I was thinking that the other day, my son is almost 23, and at that age, I was married already and had him on the way. Yikes, eh?

    Hugs,
    LeLo

  • I love your blog. Many of your gorgeous photos are suitable for a travel brochure for Oregon. Your family and friends photos are always adorable and sometimes so amusing. This one is inspirational!
Thanks for “coming by” and I am doing well, except for blogging.

  • Whatcha doin’?
